The Grove Primary Academy
Specialist Teacher for Low COIN Centre
(Communication and Interaction Needs)
Full time and permanent
Starting September 2023
Salary: MPS/UPS plus SEN Allowance £2,384

We are looking for an energetic teacher to deliver a dynamic and engaging curriculum in our 14-place, Surrey-funded, Low COIN Centre. Known as ‘The Link’, the Centre provides a blend of core learning, specialist teaching and therapies to children whose primary barrier to learning is SLCN. An important part of our offer is to support children to access wider curriculum subjects in their mainstream classes in the afternoon. The COIN Centre Teacher’s responsibility is to ensure that both morning and afternoon learning is equally accessible and meaningful for all of our COIN children.

You will work closely with the Inclusion Team, learning support staff and the speech and language therapy team to create personalised learning in an engaging, low distraction environment where children are taught in ‘stage not age’ groups. Liaison with parents and outside agencies will be an important part of your role.

The Grove Primary Academy is a large, 2-form entry primary school in Frimley with a vibrant and diverse school community. Our values of diversity, resilience and achievement underpin the school’s ethos and are as relevant to our COIN Centre children as they are to our mainstream. The school benefits from being part of the Kite Academy Trust and all that it offers.

You will be a class teacher with interest/knowledge and/or experience of teaching children with a range of additional needs including SLCN, ADHD and ASD. Excellent communication skills with adults and children alike, will be as important as your organisational skills. A proven track record in effective behaviour management and supporting children with emotional regulation is also required.

We would be happy to welcome you for an informal visit.
