Performing Arts Technician

Salary: Pay Group 3 Pro rata to £18,350 - £22,020 for hours and weeks stated.

Hours per week: 37 hours (with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break), term time only + 5 INSET days.  The successful candidate will be willing to work additional evening/weekend hours during times  of performances/external lettings on an overtime/time off in lieu basis.

Start date: ASAP

Contract: full time, permanent

Plympton Academy seeks to appoint a dynamic and creative Performing Arts Technician with sound knowledge and skills for supervising the Theatre and Performing Arts Spaces in our brand new, state-of-the-art Performing Arts block.    

Main responsibilities include: 

  • Supporting any day-to-day curriculum needs within the faculty. 
  • Support incoming professional/amateur companies and groups and ensure their technical needs are met.
  • Give support and advice to students about the use of equipment; Help non-arts staff when the theatre is used for presentations, assemblies etc.
  • Assess the level of technical support required for each event and cost implications at an early stage in negotiations.
  • Advise on the refurbishment and upgrading of technical equipment within the Performing Arts area.
