Wellbeing & Behaviour Officer

We are looking for someone who has the drive, passion and skills to work at our Primary schools in Portsmouth. Our school is a friendly, welcoming place with children who are full of energy and life. We would like a Wellbeing & Behaviour Officer with recent experience of working within a Primary setting to join our friendly team to support the behaviour and wellbeing of students, and to promote their social emotional development and wellbeing.

The role will be primarily based at Penhale Infant School & Newbridge School but the successful candidate may on occasion be required to work at other Trust schools within Portsmouth.

Our children would like a Behaviour Support Officer who has:

• Experience of working within a school environment
• Experience of working with children who display challenging behaviour and an ability to motivate and encourage pupils.
• Experience of resolving conflict and facilitating mediation between young people.
• Well-developed interpersonal skills to be able to relate well to a wide range of people including pupils, staff, parents and external professionals.
• Ability to work constructively as part of a team whilst being able to demonstrate initiative.
• An understanding of the developmental, emotional, social and educational issues of children and young people.
• Good general standard of education at level 2 or above, including L2 English and Maths
• Knowledge of current child protection and safeguarding practice.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Good ICT skills 
• Knowledge of Exclusion from school and legal requirements in relation to vulnerable groups.
