We require a Year 3 & 4 Phase leader to join Gordon Children’s Academy. You will be willing to take the opportunity to play a full part in the further development of our school and join us in our aims to make learning irresistible and to provide a nurturing and safe environment for everyone.

The role requires excellent organisational skills and an ability to work as part of a supportive team. The role will be supported by the rest of the ELT and you will be line managed by a member of SLT to be able to deliver high academic standards within your phase and curriculum area.

As part of the role, you will be supporting teachers within Gordon to be their best self through coaching and mentoring and other supportive initiatives to enrich the teaching and learning of our curriculum.

The Gordon’s Children’s Academy is based in the Strood area. Our Junior and Infant school work closely together to ensure that all staff and children work together as one.  We are lucky enough have a passionate workforce at our school who all care for and respect the fantastic children of our school. 

We are dedicated to school improvement and we all aim to provide a happy, safe and fun school environment for the children, and our staff too.  We have high expectations of behaviour and we recognise that it is our responsibility to listen to the children verbally or by interpreting their behaviour. Pupils of Gordon’s Children’s Academy are proud of their school and have an exciting environment around them to learn in, we encourage use of a creative curriculum and all children enjoy decorating their classroom whilst they focus on a particular topic across the curriculum.

What you will need to succeed:    

  • Excellent thinking, teaching and learning skills with a proven track record of excellent progress for children.
  • Reflective skills to support the development of your team and whole school curriculum areas to the highest standard for our children.
  • The skills to manage, in conjunction with SLT, the operational needs of your phase.
  • Be an advocate for digital learning and developing supporting our children to apply their skills safely. 
  • Ensuring highly effective transition for our children including for our new secondary school, Maritime Academy.
  • To be innovative, creative and inspiring of others to ensure the high standards and continuous professional development of your team and the wider school community.
  • Be an advocate for all school, hub and wider TSAT initiatives and expectations.
  • To develop curriculum resources for identified curriculum areas to ensure that our children have a highly effective curriculum journey through the primary school.
  • Undertake monitoring activities providing feedback and support for individual teachers and subject leaders.
  • Ensure that subject leaders, under the designated curriculum areas, are effective in delivering a high quality education for our children.
  • A detailed understanding of the application of the ARA and other associated external statutory expectations related to your phase
