HR Operations and Payroll Manager

TSAT Band F, £32,429 – £36,499 FTE

Full time - 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

We have an opportunity for a HR Operations and Payroll Manager to join   our Trust’s central HR Team. This is an chance to join us at a really exciting time for the HR team, as we continue to develop the professional HR and Payroll services that we provide having recently bought the HR and payroll service fully in-house.

The successful applicant will lead the development our new payroll system as well as our processes and procedures, as we look to continue to build on our recent successful in-house payroll service..

You will manage and lead the day-to-day delivery of the HR operations and payroll services across the Trust and be responsible for the start-to-end payroll process across all services in line with HMRC compliance and payroll regulations. You will be the point of contact for all pension queries and liaise with Teachers’ Pension and LGPS scheme providers.

You will  support and deliver the Trust’s HR Operational Strategy in line with our HR development plan. This will include working with external organisations to offer a comprehensive and effective payroll service whilst ensuring you and the team meet and exceed KPIs and SLAs.

The successful candidate will be joining a small, welcoming team who work closely together and enjoy supporting one another.

What you will need to succeed:

  • Experience of working in payroll in an education environment
  • Knowledge of Teacher and Support Staff terms and conditions 
  • Proven track record in managing end-to-end payroll processes
  • Have experience of developing HR/Payroll systems and enhancing functionality 
  • Be an experienced line manager who supports and encourages their team as well as promoting CPD
  • Up to date knowledge of current payroll regulations, legislation and statutory requirements as well as knowledge of both LGPS and Teachers’ Pension schemes
  • Professional qualification (CIPP desirable) or willingness to work towards one
  • Strong organisational skills with an ability to prioritise an often conflicting workload
  • Understanding of the need for confidentiality and ability to handle sensitive issues
  • An aspiring leader, happy to grasp exciting CPD opportunities  
  • Commitment to the Trust’s vision and ethos
