At Walton Montessori Nursery, we believe children learn best when they feel secure, valued and encouraged to explore the world around them. We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Toddler Room Leader to lead our toddler provision, support a dedicated team and create a warm, engaging environment where children can develop their confidence, curiosity and independence.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Early Years practitioner who is ready to take the next step in their career, or an established Room Leader looking for a new challenge within a Montessori-inspired nursery environment.
About Walton Montessori Nursery
Walton Montessori Nursery, in Walton-on-Thames, provides a nurturing Early Years environment where children's individual interests, abilities and developmental needs are at the heart of their learning.
Inspired by Montessori principles, the nursery encourages children to explore, make choices and develop independence through hands-on experiences and a carefully prepared learning environment. Children are supported to learn at their own pace, build confidence and develop the skills they need as they grow.
As Toddler Room Leader, you'll play an important role during this exciting stage of development. From supporting children's growing independence and communication skills to encouraging them to explore new experiences, you'll help create an environment where toddlers feel safe, confident and excited to learn.

You'll:
• Lead and support the Toddler Room team, creating a positive, collaborative and supportive working environment.
• Create a stimulating, Montessori-inspired environment where toddlers can explore, make choices and develop independence.
• Plan engaging, age-appropriate activities that follow children's interests and support their individual stages of development.
• Encourage toddlers to develop their communication and language skills, social confidence and relationships with others.
• Support children as they develop self-help skills, including early independence with dressing, mealtimes and personal care.
• Provide a nurturing environment that recognises each child's individual needs, personality and pace of development.
• Oversee observations, assessments and planning in line with the EYFS.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with children and provide consistent support during transitions and new experiences.
• Develop positive partnerships with parents and carers, sharing updates on children's progress, development and wellbeing.
• Coach and mentor Early Years Practitioners, helping them develop their skills and confidence.
• Maintain high standards of safeguarding, health and safety, hygiene and care.
• Work closely with the Nursery leadership team to ensure consistently high standards of practice and a positive experience for every child.
We're Looking For Someone Who Has
• A Level 3 or above Early Years qualification recognised as full and relevant.
• Previous experience working in an Early Years or nursery setting.
• Experience as a Room Leader or Senior Practitioner, or strong experience and confidence ready to take the next step.
• A good understanding of the EYFS and toddler development.
• An understanding of how to support children's growing independence, communication and social skills.
• An interest in Montessori principles and a commitment to encouraging child-led learning.
• A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
• The confidence to lead, motivate and support a team.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• A warm, patient and enthusiastic approach to working with young children.
• A genuine passion for giving children the very best start in life.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who brings energy, creativity and a positive attitude to the Toddler Room. You'll understand how much toddlers learn through everyday experiences and enjoy helping them discover what they can do, build confidence and take their next steps towards independence.
