Minibus Driver
Part Time, Term Time Only - 20 Hours Per Week
Morning and Evening Split Shifts (Monday to Friday)
Start Date: 2 November 2026
£13.71 per Hour
Derby Grammar School is seeking to appoint a reliable, professional and caring Minibus Driver to provide a safe and efficient transport service for our pupils during term time.
Established in 1995, Derby Grammar School is a leading independent co-educational school for pupils aged 4 to 18. Situated within beautiful grounds in Littleover, Derby, we are proud of our supportive community and commitment to providing an outstanding educational experience.
This is an important role within the school. As one of the first people pupils see at the start of their day and one of the last at the end, you will play a key part in ensuring their journey to and from school is safe, comfortable and enjoyable.
We are looking for a Minibus Driver who will be able to:
Undertake morning and afternoon school transport routes during term time.
Safely transport pupils to and from school in accordance with agreed schedules.
Carry out daily vehicle safety checks and basic maintenance checks.
Maintain accurate minibus records, route logs and vehicle documentation.
Ensure pupils travel safely at all times, including adherence to seat belt requirements and school expectations.
Monitor the welfare, comfort and safety of pupils whilst travelling.
Ensure vehicles are kept clean, secure and roadworthy.
Report vehicle defects, incidents or concerns promptly to the School Business Manager.
Follow all school policies, safeguarding procedures, risk assessments and health and safety requirements.
Comply with all road traffic legislation, DVSA regulations and the Highway Code.
Respond appropriately to emergencies, accidents or vehicle breakdowns.
Liaise professionally with parents, carers and school staff where required.
Support additional transport requirements, including sporting fixtures and educational visits, where available and by agreement.
Attend relevant training and development opportunities as required.
Essential Requirements
Full, clean D1 manual driving licence.
Excellent punctuality and reliability.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
A flexible and positive approach to work.
A professional and well-presented manner.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable
First Aid qualification.
Previous experience driving a school minibus or passenger vehicle.
