Job Description

Lifeguard

Location: St Francis’ College, Letchworth Garden City, SG6 3PJ
Contract: Part Time - Permanent
Pay: £15.00 per hour
Start Date: September 2026

Hours: Approximately 6.5 to 8 hours per week, with shifts available across weekday afternoons and evenings (earliest start 3:45pm, latest finish 8:00pm) and Saturday mornings (earliest start 8:15am).

Specific working patterns will be discussed and agreed during the interview process.

About the Role

St Francis’ College is seeking reliable and enthusiastic Lifeguards to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who is safety-focused, confident around children and families, and passionate about maintaining a safe and welcoming pool environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervising swimmers and ensuring safety at all times
• Responding promptly to any incidents
• Setting up and packing away pool equipment
• Carrying out basic cleaning of changing rooms after sessions
• Liaising with parents and staff when required
• Supporting the smooth running of the pool and sharing improvement ideas
• Understanding and following safeguarding procedures, Normal Operating Procedures (NOP) and the Emergency Action Plan (EAP)

Qualifications:

• National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ), NRASTC or equivalent
• Ability to supervise a pool depth of up to 3.5m (preferred)
