St Christopher’s Preparatory School and Nursery is seeking to appoint an energetic, highly motivated, passionate and outstanding part time SENCo.
This is a great opportunity for someone with a passion for education to join our staff. We would like to hear from you if you are an experienced SENCo or if you are recently trained in this area. Working 2 days a week you would be the key lead for the provision of SEND support at St Christopher’s.
The successful SENCo will be passionate about children`s learning and the unique way each child learns. As a specialist you will be instrumental in the additional support on offer at St Christopher’s ensuring that every pupil is catered for an has access to progressing to fulfil their potential.
St Christopher’s Preparatory School and Nursery based in Middlesex, North West London is a co-educational independent school for children aged 2 years -11 years, which provides a broad and balanced education within a unique setting. It offers an individually focused education in a friendly environment, promoting excellence in learning and encouraging exceptional behaviour. It is a truly inclusive school with a unique family feel and offers small classes, dedicated and enthusiastic teachers and experiences catered to the needs and interests of every child. The school has a strong family atmosphere and prepare pupils exceptionally well for schools of their choice at age 11+.
As the SENCo at St Christopher’s you will be working with the Headteacher, you will play a vital role in the strategic development of the school's SEND provision and oversight of the day-to-day operation of that policy with the aim of raising SEN pupil achievement.
You will be relied upon to put provision in place to ensure that the progress of pupils with SEND improves relative to those without SEND. You must ensure that the school carries out its statutory responsibilities regarding all students with an education, health and care plans (EHCP) and monitor progress towards targets.
You will also support the School in teaching and learning, leading and managing staff, advising teaching assistants, provide regular SEND information to the Headteacher and/or Governing Body when required, coordinate Annual Reviews and/or EHCPs and chairing when necessary.
We are looking for a well-qualified SENCo, you will need to have QTS or an equivalent qualification and a recognised National SENCo Qualification. You will also need recent experience of teaching and learning across the primary age range. Recent experience of inclusion or SEND is essential.
You will have lead workshops and chaired meetings and INSET, you will also have successfully led or managed a team. Your knowledge will cover relevant SEN Code of Practice and Pupil Premium legislation and interventions.
