Job Description

• 1:1 SEN Learning Support Assistant
• Salary: £19,000 - £22,000 per annum

We are currently looking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to join our support staff team and work on a 1-2-1 basis support for a child with special educational needs. This is a great opportunity for a caring, passionate individual to join our school. The primary responsibility will be to help the child access and engage in the curriculum and all other areas of school life.

The ideal candidate for this role will have a compassionate and patient demeanour, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a strong understanding of the needs and challenges faced by children with SEN, particularly those with ASD who need support with emotional regulation. Experience of working with SEN children in mainstream school will be looked upon favourably. You will be part of a dedicated learning support team, managed by the School’s Head of Learning Support.

We are looking for a Learning Support Assistant who will be able to join our excellent team of staff. We would like to hear from you if you;

• can develop a positive relationship with the pupil and provide pupil with strategies for positive behaviour
• can form positive relationships and liaise closely with the class teacher, parents and other professionals, to support the child's social, emotional and academic development and to provide feedback where necessary.
• can support the child with communication, social interaction, and sensory processing difficulties using a range of strategies to assist with emotional regulation.
• can collaborate with other staff member to provide social and emotional support to the child during lessons, external activities and unstructured times of the school day.
• can monitor and track the pupil’s social, emotional and academic progress and update relevant stakeholders
• can assist the pupil in the transition from a specialist setting, with particular regard to emotional support needed to adapt to a new provision.

Having previous school experience is desirable for this position and the role requires someone who is flexible, observant and patient but most importantly someone who is caring and child centered.
