We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Science Technician to join our well-established Science department.

As our Science Technician you will join the Science department and provide support to pupils and staff. This is a full time, term time only position.

In this role you will provide technical support to the science teachers and contribute to the students’ learning experience by co-ordinating the preparation of materials and apparatus for practical work within the Science Department.

Science is a popular subject both at core and examination level. Students at GCSE follow the AQA Syllabus and take either the Dual award or separate Sciences. Physics, Chemistry and Biology are all offered at A Level and follow the AQA syllabus.

The successful candidate will be a strong flexible team player who will support the delivery of the Science curriculum to our students. Essential attributes will include a knowledge of working with hazardous chemicals and preparation of Laboratory substances.

You will have:
• Experience of working in a laboratory and/or a background in Science
• GCSE Grade C (4) or above in Science, Maths and English
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• The ability to work as a reliable member of the team

The role will include:
• Ensuring all scientific equipment is prepared and set up safely for practical experiments
• Maintaining equipment and apparatus
• Carry out risk assessment of practical equipment
• Carrying out risk assessment of each Science Classroom
• Supporting the Science Teachers and help with any practical experiments when required
