Job Description

After School Care Assistant
Part Time – 3.5 hours per week
Up to £12 per hour

Collingwood School is currently looking to appoint an After School Care Assistant. This role would involve supporting the manager in our after school provision, providing high standards of care and play opportunities for our pupils between the ages of 4 to 11 years old in a safe and secure environment.

This role would be for 3.5 hours week. This is an all year round position. We welcome applications from experienced school staff or practitioners looking for a new and exciting role.

Collingwood School is a co-educational independent school for children aged 2 years – 11 years, which provides a broad and balanced education within a unique setting. We offer an individually focused education to all of our pupils in a friendly environment, promoting excellence in learning and encouraging exceptional behaviour. We are a truly inclusive school with a unique family feel and offer small classes, dedicated and enthusiastic teachers and experiences catered to the needs and interests of every child.

The school has a strong family atmosphere and prepares pupils exceptionally well for schools of their choice at age 11+.

We are looking for an After School Care Assistant who can;
• Maintain a safe and stimulating play environment and assist with developing opportunities which encourage children’s social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional development through play.
• Ensure the provision offers a safe environment, with checks that equipment is safe, standards of hygiene are high, safety procedures are implemented and fire drills
• Assist with the planning, preparing and delivery of activities, which meet children’s individual developmental needs.
• Work face to face with the children registered with the club.
• Organise and serve teatime refreshments for the children.
• Follow guidelines and procedures for Safeguarding in accordance with school’s policies & procedures.
• To undertake extra training as appropriate, monitor the training of staff and volunteers,
• Liaise on the purchasing and borrowing of necessary resources and the regular maintenance and tidying of equipment.
• Understand current guidelines relating to after school club practices and current training opportunities.
• Ensure all necessary after school club policies are implemented on a daily basis; and that all legal and statutory requirements are implemented and relevant resources are kept up to date, e.g. accident book and first aid kit
• Carry out any other duties, which will be seen to enhance the work of the After School Club.
