Saint Felix School are currently looking to appoint an enthusiastic, committed and well qualified or Newly qualified teacher of English. This exciting role would involve teaching English at KS3, 4 and 5.

Saint Felix School is an independent co-educational day and boarding school for children aged from 2 – 18, located close to the glorious seaside town of Southwold on the Suffolk coast. Our aim is to develop well-rounded students with the skills and the personality to make a success of their lives during and after their school years.

At Saint Felix School you will join our successful English department and contribute to its excellent results at all levels. Ther English department have a shared philosophy that combines a rigorous approach to mastering the technical skills of spelling grammar and punctuation with the enjoyment of language. They believe that if reading and writing should be enjoyable and stimulating. You will be teaching across the whole school from Year 7 to Year 11, you will be teaching all ability ranges. You will be joining a very strong department and will work closely in departmental development.

We believe that students learn best from doing, so in KS3 and KS4 pupils are afforded ample opportunities to express themselves. When students move up to Year 9 they begin their GCSE course and again there is an emphasis on student centred work, preparing presentations, writing their own reviews and developing debating skills. The department has an excellent record of success at GCSE and A level. English Literature is a popular subject at A Level and students follow the Pearson Edexcel Syllabus. Many of our Year 13 leavers who have studied English have gone on to study at Russell Group Universities including Oxford and Cambridge.

English teachers with experience and those starting their career are welcomed to apply. We would also like to hear from English teachers looking for their first step into Independent School teaching to apply.

This is a permanent full time teaching position. This would allow you to fully immerse yourself into Saint Felix life.
