Early Years Practitioner – St Francis College
Salary: Up to £28,000 depending on experience and qualifications
Hours of Work: 40 hours a week
Contract term: Permanent
Start date: TBC
We are currently looking for a passionate early years practitioner to join the Nursery at St Francis’ College. This in an exciting opportunity for you to join our school and work within our excellent all year round nursery.
Set in the midst of Letchworth Garden City, St. Francis' College has been providing a first class education for girls for over 85 years, blending traditional values and a modern vision. Our Early Years provision is co-educational allowing for our youngest pupils to be educated together. At Reception age girls will move onto the Reception class while the boys will be prepared to successfully start their school years at a range of local schools.
Within Early Years our pupils receive individual care promoting their spiritual, moral, intellectual, creative and physical development. We recognise the unique qualities of each student and encourage social responsibility and respect for others.
The children are taught in a purpose-developed stimulating environment, safe and secure, but also benefiting from the facilities of the main school. The Kindergarten children are at the beginning the Foundation Stage of their education and are introduced to play-based learning and gain confidence through involvement in department productions and concerts.
The successful candidate should be passionate about children’s learning. The role is for 40 hours per week on a shift pattern.
Applicants should demonstrate the following qualifications & experiences:
• Level 2 or 3 in Early years
• The ability to maintain children’s safety and wellbeing at all times
• To maintain positive working relationships with relevant internal and external professionals.
• To work within policies and procedures at all times and support staff to adhere to them.
• Encouraging learning and development, through play and teaching.
• Creating a secure environment, using imagination to help children to learn.
• Working with parents to support their children.
• Enabling children to build their literacy, language and numeracy skills.
• Monitoring progress and planning educational games.
• Putting together activities which will keep the children engaged throughout the day.
