Support Worker
Poynder Gardens, Kelso
Salary: £25,349 per annum
Hourly Rate: £13.00
Our Poynder Gardens service is a ‘Coming Home’ initiative - a national programme to provide specialist care and support closer to home for people with learning disabilities and complex needs, who otherwise would be at risk of placements out of area.
This work can be very challenging but is also very rewarding. The individuals we support can present behaviours of concern, which is their form of communication – and some of our service users are non-verbal. To keep everyone safe, you will be trained in diffusion and de-escalation techniques. You will also be trained to use physical interventions and escape training, which are always used as a last resort, to ensure that everyone’s safety is safeguarded. This forms part of our safe system of work.
We believe everyone deserves to live their best lives possible, and to have experiences that are important to them as part of their communities. If you are a confident and resilient Support Worker, and have strong person-centred values, you can make a difference in the lives of the individuals we support and we want to hear from you.
Whether you are an experienced Support Worker or are completely new to care, we will ensure that you are fully trained to undertake this important role, delivering caring and compassionate care and support.
If you have a Driving Licence and are passionate about supporting people to live as independently as possible within their own homes and their local community, this job is for you.
Contracts range from 16 to 37.5 hours per week. We are looking to fill several varying shift patterns including waking nights, early, late, days or part days, over 7 days, with individual requirements being discussed at interview stage.
You should ideally have (or be willing to work to achieve) an SVQ3 at SCQF Level 7 in Social Services and Healthcare. You will need good ICT skills and be able to use MS Office 365 as well as care, staff, and housing management software, with a positive approach to learn and use new tools as they become available. Most importantly you should be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of Eildon’s vision and values.
Eildon offer a competitive reward package and a range of benefits:
31 days annual leave, rising by 1 day per year up to 36 days.
A company mobile phone
Free uniform
Membership of a Health Cash Plan
This role requires membership of the Disclosure Scotland PVG Scheme and SSSC Registration.
